Today's screening is a rare opportunity to preview a short trailer of Marcus Robinson's film, Rebuilding the World Trade Center before its worldwide theatrical release in 2014.

The World Trade Center site is by a long way the most extraordinary construction site anywhere in the world. The film Rebuilding the World Trade Center is documenting and bearing witness to the reconstruction of this unique place and to the process of healing the huge scar in the bedrock of New York and the shaken psyche of resilient New Yorkers.

Since the start of construction on the World Trade Center Site in the summer of 2006 thanks to the kind permission of Silverstein Properties and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Marcus Robinson has been documenting the transformation of the site. He has been making a unique time-lapse film set to a cutting edge musical soundscape that follows the continually changing landscape of the site and gives insights into the lives of the construction workers.

The film follows the rebuilding from the start of the foundations of One World Trade Center and will continue to completion of the whole site. It will bring to a worldwide audience the inner story and the behind the scenes view of what it took to rebuild this site and will do it in an artistically unusual and groundbreaking way. Maureen Ryan, producer of award winning film Man on Wire is working along with Robinson and bringing her experience to Rebuilding the World Trade Center.

Marcus Robinson has also been creating an ongoing series of drawings, paintings and lithographic prints that capture different moments in this ever-moving historic landscape. Most of the works are painted and drawn from life, directly on site, while the largest paintings, done in the studio in 7 World Trade Center, are inspired and worked from memory and from the drawings and plein air paintings of the site.

Marcus Robinson's journey to make the art installation Rebuilding the World Trade Center began in 2002 and his dedication to the process of documenting the transformation of this historic site in film and in paintings, is in its own way a fascinating and remarkable story.
