Koji Dolly Wink Volume Mascara by Tsubasa Mazusawa Review

If there is one makeup product I couldn't live without, hands down, it'd be mascara. And probably Japanese mascara at that since those are the only mascaras I've tried that can keep a curl! So here's my review of Koji Dolly Wink Volume Mascara by Tsubasa Mazusawa.

First off, my purchase was in no way influenced by the fact that Tsubasa was on the packaging since I know nothing about her. I just really like mascara... :)

Apparently, using this mascara will allow you to achieve a "Mannish Preppy Style." Huh...

I forget how much my tube was exactly but it was definitely over $20. I purchased it at a local Japanese grocer.

I like that the packaging includes a nice pamphlet with tips on how to apply the mascara!

IMO, the design of the tube isn't that great. I know mascara doesn't usually come in anything but a plastic tube but this bottle could definitely have been designed a little better for the price. Just imo. Maybe I'm too used to Majolica Majorca's bottles. :)

The interesting thing about the wand is that it's tapered at the end! Perfect for applying mascara to your bottom lashes without accidently scrapping excess mascara onto your under eye area. How clever!

And after! BAM. If you can't tell the biggest difference between the top lashes, take a look at those bottom lashes. Ooh whee~

Verdict?I would definitely repurchase. Dolly Wink's Volume Mascara by Tsubasa Mazusawa is amazing! How could I expect any less from these fabulous Japanese mascaras, honestly. I love that upon application, the brush just glided along my lashes. I couldn't even feel the bristles on my lashes, only the mascara formula. It was so smooth. Odd to say but it was comfortable?
Pros:+ No flaking or smudging. Lasts all day!+ Waterproof.+ Holds curl really well!
Cons:- Pricey compared to comparable Japanese mascaras. I believe Majolica Majorca costs a tad less and it's my HG.

Mitsuwa Mini Haul & Random

I stopped by Mitsuwa today since I was in the area buying kibble for my dog. Picked up a new eyelash curler (Koji Eyelash Curler #70) since my current Koji is on its last rubber pad, a mascara guard because I've been wanting to try one for a while now, a pack of peach Chelsea candy, and a set of PA eyelashes.




My first thought was how hairy these eyelashes looked to me. Then I pictured this image I saw a while back when I was reading up on Latisse:

I immediately started chuckling to myself and decided to buy them. I don't wear fake eyelashes but these were just so darn silly, I had to get them. Perhaps they'll be a future giveaway item.


I decided to purchase Koji Eyelash Curler #70 over the #72, which I currently own, because the compactness doesn't seem to prove that much of a difference for me.


A review of the Kai Mascara Guard will be coming within the next few days. I'm so excited to try it out! I hope it works well. I've just been using scraps of paper and tissue paper to protect my eyeshadow.


The Chelsea hard candy is super tasty! Too bad it's.. a hard candy. I don't know why I was expecting a soft candy. I usually prefer chewy, soft candies over hard candies unless they're those fizzy soda Japanese candies. Those are so good! Haha.


Each is individually wrapped in a beautifully designed wrapper.



What could one do with these pretty wrappers? I don't want to just toss them. Perhaps decoupage?

Speaking of snacks/food...

I had my 2nd kimchi quesadilla the other day. ;___; SOOOO GOOD... I need to learn how to make this.


I've recently been introduced to some very delicious vegetarian restaurants:

The tofu with the red sauce on the right is tomato tofu. The tomato sauce/broth that it sat in was sooooooooooooo good. Goodness. I really do love food.
This is the vegetarian take on a Vietnamese soup called "Bun Bo Hue." The broth wasn't as flavorful as I'd like but the imitation meat was quite tasty!


A nice serving of shaved ice is perfect for these summer days. I like mine with bits of lychee in it. :)

What do you like to have on top of your shaved ice? Or frozen yogurt (since that seems to be fairly popular right now)?

The Best Eyelash Curler: Koji Eyelash Curler No. 72 + Food + Ameba Pigg

My favorite eyelash curlers, hands down, are Koji Eyelash Curlers No. 70 & No. 72. Both have a width of 33mm which fits my eye really well! I purchased No. 72 because I wanted to have something small and compact to fit into my makeup pouch. Problem is, I kind of broke mine in the sense that one of the handles won't bend into it's compact form anymore. It still works perfect fine otherwise and curlers my lashes like no other curler ever has.
Other eyelash curlers I've tried & didn't work as well:- Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler (shocking, I know.)- Sephora Professional Heated Eyelash Curler- Kai KQ Eyelash Curler (I was a bit frightened to put this near my eye since the top was so sharp)- Kai KQ Point Curler (this one wasn't too bad. I only used it for my bottom lashes)- Revlon Cushion Grip Lash Curler
*A note about Revlon Cushion Grip Lash Curler: The old model used to have a puffy rubber pad like my Koji Eyelash Curler does but they revamped it after a few years into the flat model you see these days (image in 2nd half of post). The new flat rubber pad doesn't work well on my lashes. After they changed it, the new eyelash curler started pinching my eyelids left and right. Which is really painful!
I always get really good results with Koji Eyelash Curler No. 72. I can get right to the base of my lashes which makes for an amazing curl.

I rarely ever pinch my lashes with this Koji eyelash curler. I don't even know if I ever have. AND it's never PULLED out any of my lashes. With my old Revlon eyelash curler on the other hand, my lashes used to always get stuck in between the metal parts of the curler and I'd have to yank out a lash or two. :( Not cool.

Here is a comparison between Revlon's Cushion Grip Lash Curler and Koji's Eyelash Curler No. 72.

I used to really like Revlon's Cushion Grip Lash Curler when it had the puffy rubber pad.But I don't think I knew any better since this was my first eyelash curler. Koji's fits the shape of my eyes sooooo much better. Here you can really see the difference between the shape of the eyelash curlers.Revlon's is super curved while Koji's is a bit more flattened out and wider.

I've also tried Koji Eyelash Curler No. 73 but for some reason, didn't get as good results as with No. 72. I guess my eyes fit best with 33mm eyelash curlers.

Another Koji eyelash curler I really want to try is Koji Curving Eyelash Curler. 38 mm. Whaaat. Haha. I wonder if it would pinch my eyelids.

Here is a chart I made on all the currently available Koji Eyelash Curlers. I was super confused when first researching Koji Eyelash Curlers because there are just SO MANY. Hopefully this chart isn't too confusing and actually helps!
