Watarirouka Hashiritai 7 [Kibou Sanmyaku] First Day Sales

Watarirouka Hashiritai 7's adorable retro-flavored single [Kibou Sanmyaku] has finally been released!  As the theme song for popular anime series [Crayon Shin-chan], I thought that might offer a boost to their sales since exposure is good and all.

On their first day, the single sold 55423 copies, coming in #3 in the daily rankings just behind KAT-TUN and Tohoshinki.  While the ranking placement is one lower than for [Hetappi Wink], that's likely attributable to the tough competition they were up against, because the number of copies sold is actually nearly double that of their previous single which sold only about 30k in the first day.  That's definitely a nice improvement to see!

Let's just hope this keeps up through the end of the week and they can stay within the top three in rankings!

AKB48 invited to perform on [62nd Kouhaku Uta Gassen]

NHK has just unveiled the performers for the 62nd Kouhaku Uta Gassen, the biggest musical event in Japan.

AKB48 is among the guests invited for this year's Kouhaku, appearing in the yearly concert for their 4th time. There is currently no word if AKB48's sister groups SKE48, NMB48, HKT48 or SDN48 will perform in Kouhaku along with AKB48.

I's surprised that SKE48 was not invited on their own. Since the theme for this year';s Kouhaku is "1231 Ashita wo utaou" (Let’s sing for tomorrow), I was expecting them to do a Kouhaku version of their song 1!2!3!4! Yoroshiku!.

AKB48 is also working as the "Kouhaku Supporters", along with Terry Ito.
http://melosnomichi.blogspot.com/2011/10/akb48-chosen-as-kouhaku-supporter.html

The Kouhaku Uta Gassen is a concert where the invitees are split into 2 Teams, Red Team (female) and White Team (male), where they will compete against each other through singing. The winning Team is selected by the audience and a panel of judges.

For 6 years since 2005, the White Team has been dominating Kouhaku. AKB48 has grown quite a lot in popularity since last year, with all their Singles selling over a million. Will that be enough to push the Red Team up? Frankly I doubt so.

The 62nd Kouhaku Uta Gassen will air on New Year's Eve from 19:15 ~ 23:45PM JST, hosted by Inoue Mao and JE group Arashi.

AKB48 HP Support Angels NEXT New CM!

As a continuation of Hewlett Packard Japan's Summer 2011 campaign for advertising their newest line of computers, six AKB48 members are being featured in yet another CM.

Set in the same futuristic world as the first HP Support Angels CM, this new version spends more screentime showing off individual members playing with various HP devices.

Oshima Yuko is featured floating in in the air while using various computers that are also floating with her.  In commenting on her segment, she was very excited, saying "Uwaah~~ It's very unstable!!"  The special effects the CM were shot using a stool with high-speed up and down controls to create a floating movement.  The director, during filming, is said to have asked her "Isn't this fun?"

Kashiwagi Yuki also plays a leading role in the CM.  The staff for the shooting commented that "Although she usually appears very elegant and graceful, she broke this image during the shooting session."  She is said to have been flustered and exclaimed "Scary!!" when put on the special effects chair.

Kojima Haruna, on the other hand, apparently was not at all shaken by the chair.  Her scenes involved wearing headphones and enjoying listening to music while holding onto a computer (that presumably is playing the music).  The staff were duly impressed, commenting "Nice grip!" because no matter how much the chair moved around or how bumpy the motion was, she never once let go of the computer prop.

AKB48 members Shinoda Mariko, Miyazawa Sae, and SKE48's Matsui Rena will also appear in the new CM.

The CM began airing on 26 November 2011.

SKE48 Team E Nakamura Yuka to Graduate by End of 2011

Announced at Team E performance today, SKE48's Team E's Nakamura Yuka will be graduating by the end of 2011. The reason for her graduation is to focus on her studies as she will be taking high school entrance exam in 2012.

Nakamura Yuka's profile: http://www.ske48.co.jp/profile/?id=nakamura_yuka
Nakamura Yuka's blog: http://www.ske48.co.jp/blog/?writer=nakamura_yuka

Here's what she said when she announced her own graduation:
I, Nakamura Yuka, has something I would like to tell everyone. I will be a middle school year 3 next year.I am thinking of placing priority in studying for my high school entrance exam.

I am sorry for not voicing this out earlier. I am sorry graduating just as my schedule is becoming packed this year.

I am truly sorry for being the first to graduate from Team E, but I hope you will continue to support Team E and SKE48. Even though I am graduating, I still love SKE48. I aim to be Team E's greatest fan. I will work hard to become Team E's greatest fan so everyone please work hard as well.

Nakamura Yuka is the first and only member of Team E to graduate. She joined SKE48 in 2010 during the 4th Audition on September, and was promoted to Team E on December. Her unit song in Team E 1st Stage [Shonichi] is Temodemo no Namida, taking on Saeki Mika's lines in the song. Coincidentally, Saeki Mika has also graduated.

SKE48 5th Generation Members 1st Look

At last weekend's SKE48 Request Hour Set List Best 50 2011 concert, the newest batch of SKE48 members made their debut appearance.

13 members from SKE48's 5th generation performed Oogoe Diamond on Day1 and SKE48 on the Day2 of the concert. Originally, 16 members passed the audition. However 3 girls have already left due to reasons unknown.

Check out the girls below! Names are romanized by Everyday48. Do any of them catch your attention? I think Suga Nanako looks quite cute.

[SKE48 Request Hour Set List Best 50 2011] Set List

Updated the setlist with Day 2 and into a new post.

SKE48 held it's yearly Request Hour Set List Best 50 2011 concert over the weekend, at the Nagoya Congress Center Century Hall. (or as I would like to call it, SenCHURI Hall)

Last year's SKE48 Request Hour Set List ranked the top 30 songs in SKE48, but this year to cope with the new songs brought in by Team KII's [Ramune no Nomikata] and Team E's [Shonichi] stages, as well as all the new singles, the ranking was expanded to 50 songs held over 2 days.

Lets jump in to Day 1 of the Set List.

The first thing I notice is that are a lot good songs have already ranked in Day 1. There is a big drop in a number of notable SKE songs, like:
Tsuyoki Monoyo (12→46), Onna no ko no Dairokkan (04→38), Anata to Christmas Eve (03→36), Ame no Pianist (08→35), Te wo Tsunaginagara (09→29).

On the other hand, a lot of new songs ranked too and I'm happy for that. Some of the new songs that I expected to rank high were also ranked on Day 1 strangely. Like Ai no Kazu for example. I thought that would definitely get in the Top 15.

On to Day 2!

-----ENCORE-----

ANNOUNCEMENT: SKE48 new Single [Kataomoi finally]
-----END-----

So there you have it! Matsui Rena's Kareha no Station wins for the 2nd time in a row. Congratulations! I couldn't be happier for her. No surprise actually, considering her mixi is so freaking huge. Team KII's Omatase Set List put up quite a huge fight as the song representing the KII's long delayed promise of an original stage. In the end it came down to Team KII wotas versus Matsui Rena wotas.

I am sad that Innocence and Wasshoi E didn't rank though. The lack of Team E songs in the ranking is disappointing, but I guess that can be excused since Team E doesn't have an original stage yet. That by the way was a signal to you Aki-P to give them one.

NMB48 to hold fan voting about the return of Shimada Rena and Matsuda Shiori

As announced on its official website, NMB48 will hold a fan voting to decide whether the currently suspended members Shimada Rena and Matsuda Shiori will be allowed to resume their activities as NMB48 members.

In the time between November 27 and December 3, all members of the NMB48 Ticket Center can vote whether they approve of the girls' return or not. Results will be announced during the Team N Show on December 7. If the fans vote in favor of the girls' return, they will be allowed to participate at lessons again, and eventually return on stage. If not, fan votings will be repeated regularly until the fans approve their return.

Shimada Rena suspended activities in September because of past kissing purikura with her then-boyfriend while Matsuda Shiori officially took a break out of "her own will", as did fellow Team N member Yoshida Akari. Any details about Yoshida Akari will be announced on a later date.

Read a translation of the announcement below.

Honestly I am not sure what to think about this. On the one hand I do want the girls to come back, and I acknowledge that the opinion of the fans is very important. But on the other hand, the decision about the return of members is quite a big issue that usually management should deal with. Maybe management does not want to take resposibilty and hence leaves it to the fans. Also I wonder why Yoshida Akari is excluded from this voting.

What do you think? Is it right to leave this decision up to the fans? Do you think the girls are ready to come back?

About the return of the suspended NMB48 members
Translated by: Miss Moonlight
http://nmb48-staff.laff.jp/blog/2011/11/nmb48-e0f5.html
Thank you for always supporting NMB48.

We have to make an announcement about the return of 2nd Generation Research Student Shimada Rena, on suspension since September 2, and Team N member Matsuda Shiori, on suspension since September 4.

The NMB48 management office has constantly taken communication with the currently suspended Yoshida Akari, Matsuda Shiori and Shimada Rena. They have spent days leading a well-regulated life, faced themselves more than ever until now, and repeating self-lessons.

During that process not only among the members themselves but also among staff the opinion "Wouldn’t it be fine if they start lessons for returning to shows" came up. Nevertheless, the members themselves constantly said that they still think: "I want to come back to NMB48 but I feel so sorry towards the fans who always supported me. Is it really ok if I come back?".

Therefore we entrust the decision about the participation of currently suspended Matsuda Shiori and Shimada Rena at lessons, their appearance in NMB48 shows etc, their return to NMB48, to the voting of you all, the fans. If the positive votes for the return are the majority we will let them start the preparations for their return.

Also, we will hold a voting repeatedly until approval of return reaches the majority.

We will make announcements about Yoshida Akari on a later date.

The original idea of the AKBProject is ‘a place where dreams can come true’. In this place, the girls found themselves back, reconfirmed their dream and are now going towards this dream recklessly.

We think you all have various thoughts and opinions. Please cast those feelings as a vote.

Furthermore, to avoid irregularities, and guarantee rightness, we will entrust the election to the third party organization “株式会社パイプドビッツ” who will act as a supervisor of the voting, like during the AKB General Election and AKB Request Hour.

Voting Details:
Voting Time: November 27 (Sun) until December 03 (Sat) 23:59
Entitled to vote: Members of the NMB48 Ticket Center (free of charge)
Voting Tool: Mobile Phone
Voting supervisor: 株式会社パイプドビッツ

Because You Were There for Me: Miyazawa Sae

Another Shukan Asahi [Because You Were There for Me] translation. This weekends' feature Team K's Miyazawa Sae!

AKBINGO once had a segment titled "Hokkori Hanashi" (Touching Story) back in 2010, and Sae also spoke about her grandmother in the show.

In this article, Sae talks about how she was bullied in middle school, and how her grandmother was her source of hope when she wanted to quit school. Her grandmother was always supportive of her, but never once did she praise her about AKB.

Shortly after the death Sae's grandmother, Sae recieved a postcard from a family friend......

This is a very emotional story about how parents (or grandparent in this case) support their child even though they never mention it.

The "Miracle" Postcard from My Grandmother in Heaven.
Translated by mammothb

My grandmother was first diagnosed of cancer 2 years ago. But fortunately, she only had to be hospitalized for a short period of time as a medicine that is suitable for her is found quickly, hearing that I calmed down.

But it only lasted for a year plus, nearing the end of March 2010, I was carrying out preparations for the Concert in Yokohama Arena, that was when my grandmother had a relapse, and she was hospitalized again. But I believed that there's no way my grandmother would lose to the illness.

When I was in middle school, I was bullied by some of my school mates in the same year as me. I was outcasted by my friends, being bad-mouthed for something which I don't remember doing. "Miyazawa Sae has such a bad character. She's the worst", such a text was forwarded to me. As I found it hard to stay in class and my club, I wanted to quit the school. Seeing that side of me, my grandmother shared with me that she was also a victim of bullying. Getting her skirt cut into shreds, getting her PE uniform thrown into the rubbish bin, she suffered harsher bullying than I did. It was never easy for me to talk about my experience of getting bullied. I thought my grandmother must have felt the same while she was telling about how she was bullied. But I think she must have wanted to cheer me up, that's why she shared her story with me.

"If you live your life without crying, someday, people will definitely understand Sae's good points. Tears of joy are fine, if you are cry when the going gets tough, that you've been defeated. "...... Standing on the stage of Yokohama Arena, I was overwhelmed with emotions, I was glad that I believed in my grandmother's words and got to where I am today. The next time I visit her in the hospital, I shall tell her that right now, I have found lots of wonderful friends.

A few days after the concert, I received a text from my mother. "Your grandmother maybe not have much time left, prepare yourself for the worst." When I entered the hospital ward, what I saw wasn't the usual lively grandmother, she was skin and bones. "AKB has released an album! Can you find Sae?", I said to my grandmother who is hardly conscious. Hearing that, she stared at the album cover and pointed at me on the cover. I was so happy that I almost burst out crying, but right now isn't the time to cry. With that thought, I gritted my teeth to prevent myself from crying. After a few days, my grandmother passed away. The family was all by her side during her final moments. Although my grandmother did not object my decision to joing AKB, she also didn't praise me on the work I was doing in AKB either. If I were to say that I didn't wanted her to praise me, saying, "Good for you.", "You really worked hard.", I would be lying. I wondered how my grandmother really thought about me entering AKB.

When the funeral has ended, and my family has gotten over the sorrow, my grandmother's friend passed us a New Year's postcard. The postmark dated several years ago. Written there, were my grandmother's words, "My granddaughter is Miyazawa Sae, AKB48 K Team's member. Please support her." At the time the postcard was written, Team K was called K Team, my grandmother has been asking her friends to support me since so long ago...... And she also went as far as writting the furigana "e-ke-bi-" for AKB. Even though she did all these, I still thought that she didn't praise me, I'm sorry......

Finally, I broke down in tears, grandma. But these are tears of joy, so I have not been defeated right? And I'd also like to say, thank you...... I feel even happier than being praised.

HKT48 1st Stage [Te wo Tsunaginagara]

HKT48 performed their 1st Stage today, at the same time SKE48 did their Request Hour Concert! Coincidentally, the Stage that HKT48 performed is Team S 2nd Stage [Te wo Tsunaginagara].

Te wo Tsunaginagara was originally SKE48 Team S's debut stage, and was also performed by Team KII for their 2nd Stage.

I really don't know anything about HKT48 so I can't really say anything about them. There isn't any show documenting them like what Star Hime Sagashi taro did for NMB48. What I can talk about is that I really love S2 so I am really glad they choose this stage to perform.
