Pangea Organics Skincare Review

Thank you to Pangea Organics for sending me some samples of their products to try out! I've been wanting to try Pangea Organics for a while now since they're 100% natural and since their packaging is 100% recyclable/biodegradable. It's made entirely from post-consumer waste materials. The box even has basil seeds in it so you can soak it in water and then plant it!

Read on for my review.

Facial Cream
Nigerian ginger, sweet lavender, & thyme
For normal to combination skin
$36.00 for 2 fl oz

Formulated for normal to combination skin, this facial cream penetrates deeply offering superior hydration with environmental protection. Spicy and sweet, this cream creates a balance yet leaves a slightly matte finish to the skin.

GINGER
o stimulating
o restorative
o nutritive

LAVENDER
o purifying
o balancing
o soothing

Directions: Following Toner, place 2-3 pumps into your palm, rub hands together lightly, and pat your face, neck and décolleté with an upward rolling motion. Most beneficial if used morning and night.

My thoughts on Pangea Organics Facial Cream: This cream is more like a lotion to me. It the wateriest moisturizer I've tried yet (even more than CeraVe lotion), probably really good for those who have very oily skin. Still, it was moisturizing enough for my sometimes-dry-to-normal skin in this summer weather. A little goes a long way since it's so watery. The scent isn't as strong as some of their other products. It's supposed to be a mix of lavender and ginger. My skin doesn't look matte after application but it still looks fairly natural. Not overly oily or anything.

Scrub
Egyptian geranium with adzuki bean & cranberry
for all skin types
$32.00 for 3.8 fl oz

Our scrub gently exfoliates, cleanses, detoxifies and regenerates skin cells. Enjoy once daily or weekly.

CRANBERRY
o antioxidant
o nutrient-rich

GERANIUM
o cell regenerating
o toning
o rejuvenating

Directions: Following the Cleanser, give a nice, gentle squeeze in the palm of your hand, rub palms together and massage thoroughly into your face, neck and décolleté with your fingers. Be sure not to miss your nose and the area around it - it needs extra love. Then rinse. This scrub may be used once daily or weekly.

My thoughts on Pangea Organics Facial Scrub: This is my favorite out of all the Pangea Organics products I tried. It is a very gentle scrub, much gentler than some other popular facial scrubs I've tried like St. Ives (St. Ives makes me feel like someone's scratching at my skin!). PO's facial scrub left my skin feeling really nice and soft. It didn't spread too well across my skin though so I had a bit of difficulty "scrubbing" my skin. Perhaps I should try wetting my face first next time. I'd recommend this for those who have sensitive skin since it's almost creamy in texture. Oh and the actual product comes in a tube. Definite plus for sanitary reasons.

for all skin types
$40.00 for 4 fl oz

ACAI
o antioxidant
o revitalizing

• GOJI BERRY
o anti-aging
o nutrient-rich

Directions: Apply an even layer to clean and moist face, neck and decolette. Leave on for 10 to 20 minutes, wet fingers and gently massage mask into skin with upward circular motions, then rinse off. All skin types may enjoy this luxurious spa ritual 1 to 2 times per week. Follow with Facial Toner and Facial Cream or Balancing Oil.

Please excuse the frazzled hair. I just woke up.

My thoughts on Pangea Organics Facial Mask: This mask has really good reviews on MUA with 88% of reviewers saying that they'd repurchase it. I was really excited to use it because, well, I love green tea! :D The first thing I noticed was how much it smelled like mashed up greens or herbs which was a bit overwhelming for me. The scent is very, very strong. It smelled up my bathroom for a while after. As for the after effects, my face did look a bit more glowy but I don't think there was anything too transforming. The scent just really stands out to me. When I think of "facial masks" or facial treatments, I think calm and relaxing but this scent more like invigorates you cause it's so dang awakening. Also, I didn't expect all the tiny bits. When I think mask, I think pasty consistency. I don't know if I'd want to purchase a tube for myself since the smell is so deterring.

Eye Cream
Turkish rose & white tea
for all skin types
$55.00 for 0.5 fl oz

Our eye cream contains the essential nutrients needed to protect, soften and nourish your delicate eye area as a vital component of your daily skincare routine.

• TURKISH ROSE
o nourishing
o line softening

• WHITE TEA
o antioxidant
o restorative

Directions: Squeeze a small (lentil sized) amount onto your ring fingers. Dot along the bone area around the eye. Work from the inside corner out, and up around the side.

Pangea Organics Eye Cream applied.

This is after application.
:( I've been waking up with all these silly folds in my eyelids lately.

My thoughts on Pangea Organics Eye Cream: My first impression of this cream was that it's quite thick. It doesn't smell too strongly which I like since it's going to be near my eyes and I'd prefer that my eyes not sting. It doesn't apply matte, but a little shiny, so if one were to wear this during the day, you'd probably want to apply a little powder over it.

I don't use eye cream on a daily basis but I have tried a few different brands before. The majority, if not all, give me milia after a few days which is why I don't use eye cream right now. Hopefully Pangea Organic's eye cream doesn't give me milia. I'll update about that in a few days.

*Edit 9/9/2010* It doesn't give me milia! With normal eye creams, I can immediately see little milia bumps pop up after 2 or 3 days of usage. With Pangea Organics eye cream, I can pack this stuff on all over my eye and not a milia in sight! :)
Balancing Oil
Himalayan geranium & pomegranate
for all skin types
$50.00 for 1 fl oz

Our Balancing Oil works hard to penetrate the skin, preserve intrinsic moisture and combine with your natural oils to bring your skin into harmony.

GERANIUM
o harmonizing
o cell repairing

POMEGRANATE
o antioxidant
o collagen supporting

Directions: While skin is still moist from Cleansing and Toning, use fingertips to apply Balancing Oil where needed: forehead, cheekbones, chin, neck and décolleté. Gently massage in upward circular motions. Stimulating these areas will increase circulation, enhance absorption and allow deep penetration of active ingredients. Recommended: 1-2 drops (Oil-Rich skin), 2-3 drops (Balanced/Combo skin), 3-4 drops (Thirsty/Evolved skin). For maximum benefits, mist once more with Toner. For Thirsty/Evolved skin, finish with Cream.

My thoughts on Pangea Organics Balancing Oil: This balancing oil left my face feeling plump and soft upon first application. After letting the oil settle though, I felt as if my face needed a little more moisturizing. Compared to the only other facial oil I've tried, Paul & Joe Treatment Oil, Pangea Organics Balancing Oil isn't as moisturizing. It doesn't leave the skin as oily-looking as one might think it could but it does make me feel oily after the day has passed.

Overall thoughts on the Pangea Organics skin care line:

+ Doesn't irritate my sensitive skin
+ 100% natural, biodegradable, recyclable
+The Facial Scrub is my favorite product out of their entire line

- Majority of products smell REALLY earthy so this may throw some off. I know when I originally smelled the Face Mask in a store, I immediately put it back on the shelves.
- Some products in the line are quite pricey. Aka the eye cream.
